ILLINOIS
LAMA
ASSOCIATION
The Illinois Lama Association (ILLA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promote the joy of owning lamas.
Welcome to the marvelous world of lamas!

The Illinois Lama Association (ILLA) invites you to join us and enjoy the beauty of these majestic creatures.  In visiting this site we hope you will discover and learn about lamas.

The purpose of the association is to educate members and the public about lamas and alpacas; to promote the industry as a whole; and to encourage and support events to expand the awareness and market potential.

ILLA was organized in 1989 making it one of the older llama organizations in the United States.

We invite you to browse this website to learn more about these intelligent animals with a variety of uses.  You will also find coming events and please stop by the photo gallery.

The ILLA supports camelid health research through financial contributions to institutions and groups such as the Morris Animal Foundation, the University of Illinois veterinary school and the International Camelid Institute.

If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to: llama9alpaca@gmail.com.

Did we make a mistake in our name by using only a single "L" in the word lama?  No, the single lama is the genus (Latin for descent, family or type) for the four cousins of the lama family - llama, alpaca, guanaco, and vicuńa.  All of which are part of the camelid family.
